INTRODUCTION

There is another animated short film which again had a good message to tell which I would like to share with you all. It is just a 2 min and 45 seconds film but this almost 3 min film can change the life of an individual. “Mr. Indifferent” is a film by: ‘Aryaseb Faiz’ and is made for NBD Emirates bank. It has got one main character who is around 30-35 years aged man, and other small characters.

STORYLINE

So now into the film. There was a man who seemed like never getting his hands out of the pocket to help someone i.e. so much self-contained and not giving a fuck about any else around him. He first was in an elevator and the lady was approaching the elevator before it’s door gets closed but that man didn’t even move his hands. And she misses that elevator. Next, when that man passes by the garden where there was a small girl playing with her balloon and mistakenly balloon got left from her hands and rising above the sky. This all events happened just at the moment when that man was passing by. That man was in a situation to prevent that balloon from going up to the sky because of his long height but he didn’t even move his hands as usual and just kept walking as if nothing has happened. Next, he was passing by a store where another man was loading his stuff into a trolley and his trolley got unbalanced and making it go down the hill at a pace where he can’t match up with it. But the self-centered man again was having a chance to save that trolley from going away as he was coming from that opposite side but as usual, he didn’t even hesitate to help him save his trolley and just walked away as if nothing happened at all.

Now, here is a twist and a life-changing moment for that self-contained man who never takes his hands out of his pockets in order to help someone, got a hold on his hands of an old lady with a stick in her hands. Can anyone guess where this man would be and what help that old lady was asking for? This man was standing on the pedestrian pathway beside the intersection and waiting for that green light so that he can safely cross the road and reach the other side of the intersection. And you might now be able to guess the help that old lady was seeking? She, being old and crippled with sticks in her hand and weakened vision, was asking if she can join him in crossing the road. That man can’t do anything but help her. They both then started crossing the road as soon as the green light turned up. As that old lady was walking very slowly they both walked slowly and they didn’t even have crossed the half road and the red light turned ON. At that moment, that man took his big hands out of his pocket facing towards that car as a STOP signal and that car stopped at the right moment. He did it as it might take his life and so to help himself he took his big lazy hands out of his pocket. But seeing this event by her weak eyes that lady got pleased and after crossing the road that lady pulled that man’s cheeks as a sign of appreciation and that man’s life changed from that moment and he experienced the satisfaction in the heart when one gets on helping someone.

After that day he helped everyone previously he didn’t used to notice. And one day he came across a man who was just like his previous self i.e. self-contained, self-centered, not giving a fuck about anyone. You now must be able to guess the ending and if not check it out, the link is down below.

MY OPINION

Message that this film is trying to convey to its audience is very loud and clear. One must not remain so much independent and self-centered that he forgets to enjoy life and not even caring about anyone. At the time of your work, it is of utmost importance that you just focus on yourselves and should not give a fuck about anyone else and not getting influenced by others and following whatever you liked. All that is fine but just in the right proportion. You must able to see the harm that you are producing to your surroundings by your such behavior. When you apply the same kind of behavior to your personal life i.e. with your closed ones or your family then life gets so much hard for you. Because family means one who is always with you and caring for you even in your difficult times. And when you say that I don’t give a fuck what my sister is doing then that gets so much complicated in the future that you can’t even imagine. So be caring at least to your loved ones, your closed ones, and your family members. Instead of wasting your strength or your happiness with your office colleagues or at your workplace try to spend time with your family or with your close friends. And also learn to help others when one is in need. We in this busy life are so much self-centered that we are even missing out on the sparkling beauty of the stars at night. The majority of the people in cities have forgotten that there is a thing like stars at night. One might say that we are busy in our work even at night, I can understand it but what about weekends or Sundays? One doesn’t forget to see the movie on Saturday night but forgets to see the stars even for a minute. Now, what about it?

All I am trying to say don’t forget that you are a human and not any robot just made for materialistic pleasure. Do remember that there is a thing such as internal happiness. Just don’t waste your whole life after materialistic pleasure. Because money was not able to buy you internal happiness, it is not going to able to and will not be able to buy you internal happiness anytime in the future and that is for sure. Internal happiness lies in giving up things for someone else’s happiness. I will elaborate more on internal happiness on some other posts. And I would like to conclude it by reminding the man’s saying who was a very successful man and has earned much money, in fact, his whole life’s purpose was a materialistic pleasure and his name was STEVE JOBS and he said that

At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realize that all the recognition and wealth that I took so much pride in, have paled and become meaningless in the face of impending death.

- Steve Jobs (1955 - 2011)
